Article publishing guidelines
As a member, you can submit small business related articles with a
click of a mouse. We welcome your articles and encourage you to use the
Tips and Advice section to promote yourself as an expert.
How do I get exposure?
- First, as member and publisher, you get an additional star and your profile can be seen on the TeamBiz homepage more often
- Once a week, we choose an article to be featured on the homepage and in our TeamBiz Loop newsletter (along with other new articles) that goes out to over 600 TeamBiz members.
- Your articles are optimized for search engines, so your exposure goes beyond TeamBiz community.
- Your credits pop next to your name, are also displayed at the bottom of your articles and are linked to your member profile, to help you grow your reputation.

Are there any editorial guidelines?
We want to bring our members valuable information they can actually use to help their business, so we review every article before publishing.
Here is what we are looking for:
- Articles that are 400 to 700 words long, with concise and well structured information (using headings and lists) suitable for busy readers
- Articles that help entrepreneurs and small businesses (1 to 50 employees)
- An upbeat tone, that leaves a positive impression
Here is what we avoid:
- Articles that are advertorials. For example an article that talks about "How to choose a accountant" or "The benefits of working with an accountant" or even directly what a company does (services, products, programs offered etc), is considered an advertorial. On the other hand, an article that talks about "Tax tips for the end of the year" is more likely to get our member's attention, and at the same time it shows your expertise, in an implicit, non-obtrusive way.
- Articles that are not original work, written by somebody else. If you cite somebody else, please credit all sources.
- Articles that are actually press releases
- Articles that are focused on news topics and may become obsolete shortly after publishing. It is all right though to make sparse references to major events, for example to prove a point.
- Articles with heavy formatting (overuse of bold, italic or CAPLOCKS, *****, ======== etc., - you get the idea)
- Aggressive tone
What if my articles are rejected?
Once you make sure your articles meet our editorial guidelines, we will be happy to review them again.
Most likely reasons for rejections are:
- Advertorials (please see above)
- Article is written by somebody else and not by you
- Article does not fit in any of the topics described above
- Article is not suitable for small business
- Heavy formatting or aggresive tone as described above
- News oriented or press release
How do I send an article?
We made it very simple for you:
- Log in into your TeamBiz account
- Choose "Publish an article" from the right-hand menu
- Paste your article in the form and send it for review
- Check your article status in your "Published articles" section. It usually takes several hours to have your article reviewed and published.
- Repeat for as many articles as you want. If approved, we'll schedule their publication dates to about one per week, to maximize your exposure.
