GUIDELINES FOR A GREAT PROFILE
Most people don't carefully read on-line content, they "skim" it (don't we all?) and then just move on. So, to be effective, try to make your case along with a good impression in about 200 words. Keep your visitor's attention alive using bulleted lists and short sentences. Keep it simple and don't shout at them - people like to buy but they don't like to be sold. Be honest and interesting. Write it like you would talk to friends, face to face.
Here is how a great profile could look like. Feel free to bring on your own creativity!
Your Company Profile (in 200 words):
Paragraph 1 - Introduction
You may want to think about using the first paragraph to introduce in one sentence
what products/services you offer.
Paragraph 2 - Products and Services
After introducing your company, the second paragraph would be the ideal place
to tell us (TeamBiz members) what problem your products/services can solve and
how do you do it
differently from others so we can put you in our minds, in a category of your
own.
Paragraph 3 - Clients and Achievements
If you can, share some of your best clients - we are all curious about your work. And, don't be shy, your awards and certifications make us proud to have you among us!
Your Personal Profile (in 200 words):
Paragraph 1 - Getting Personal
Unlock the real you and
let us know who you are: a business veteran, a busy parent, a techie...
What are your hobbies and what do you like to do when you don't think
about your business?
We want to know what makes you, well... yourself.
Paragraph 2 - Go Ahead, Brag a Little!
We are curious about your past: milestones in your professional history (for example a well-known company you worked for), and maybe how did you decide to start your business.
Paragraph 3 - Where do you want to go from here?
What are your goals in your professional an personal life and how do
you plan to get there? Is there anything we can do to help?
Your Picture
Let us connect with you easier. Seeing your picture makes us think
about you as a person, not just as a name. And if we ever meet each
other in a networking room, it will be like talking to old friends!
Now, if you read all this, you know how to make your profile a great networking tool. And, we can't wait to say 'Hi'!
